What will you need?


•    Concentrated wood cleaner
•    15L Bucket
•    Scrub brush
•    Wood brightening product
•    Masking or painters tape
•    Roll of Plastic
•    Cloth rags, sponge, or paint brush
•    Wood stain of choice


Hot Tub Preparation

Step 1: Mix.
Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions on mixing the wood cleaner in a 15L bucket. Make sure you get the appropriate solution for cedar.

Step 2: Wet. Apply. Scrub.
Thoroughly wet all of the wood and then apply cleaning solution with your brush and scrub it to remove any residue, dirt and film.

Step 3:Rinse. Brighten.
Rinse off the areas that you’ve just cleaned and apply a wood brightening product. Leave it on for 45 minutes to an hour.

Step 4:Rinse. Dry.
Rinse the hot tub again and then let it dry for about 24 hours. You will need to wait for it to completely dry before you move on.

Stain Application

Step 5: Protect.
Cover the fibreglass part of your hot tub with plastic and tape it off up to the edge of your cedar to protect your tub from getting stain on it.

Step 6: Apply Stain.
Moving quickly, apply a single coat of wood stain. Be sure to apply it in the direction of the wood grain.

Step 7: Soak.
The stain should soak into the wood for about 15-20 minutes. After that, use a rag, sponge or paint brush to remove any excess.

Step 8: Dry.
Let the stain on your hot tub dry for 24 hours before allowing it to get wet.
